TThis beautiful Broderie Perse and English Paper Pieced (EPP) coverlet is inspired by a c. 1800 British coverlet Margaret studied in a museum in New Zealand in 2017. Having gained the museum’s permission to create and teach a version of this work from their archives, Margaret brings this stunning coverlet to Connections Quilt Festival.

You will learn traditional Broderie Perse Applique, also called Cut-out Chintz Applique, popular in the 18th and 19th centuries.

English Paper Piecing will also be covered in this class. Whilst you enjoy a day of gentle hand stitching, you will transport yourself back to a quieter style of quilt making.

Trees and Pheasant fabric: Margaret will be able to supply some of the same "Trees" used and some Pheasants (different from her quilt but they are the same size/style) cost to be advised.

Margaret is the author of Quilts from the Colonies (Quiltmania Publications 2017) which celebrates her passion for quilt history and 19th century reproduction quilts. Margaret enjoys sharing her vast fabric and quilt knowledge with her students and will inspire you to enjoy making quilts more slowly. She lives in a converted 19th century Railway Station in a small village in Central Victoria, Australia.
